Arrival of Lieutenant General H C H Robertson as C-in-C BCOF
Description
34 (VX20321, VX80578) Lieutenant Colonel Horace Clement Hugh Robertson CBE DSO, flew from Australia to Tokyo a few days prior to 16 June 1946, the date on which he was to officially take over command of BCOF from Lieutenant General (Lt Gen) Northcott. Both generals are seen talking in the grounds of the Commonwealth Legation in Tokyo. On 12 June 1946, Lt Gen Robertson left Tokyo for Kure where he was met by, and inspected, a guard of honour formed by 'A' Company, 67th Australian Infantry Battalion at Kure railway station.
