Visits of Honourable Cyril Chambers Minister for Army, to BCOF
Honourable (Hon) C Chamber, Minister for Army, arrived Honeda airfield on 19 December 1946. He was accompanied by Mr H S Sinclair, Secretary of the Department of Army, a press secretary and a staff officer. They were greeted by the Commander in Chief 34 (VX20321, VX80578) Lieutenant General Horace Clement Hugh Robertson CBE DSO, and Mr McMahon Ball, British Commonwealth representative on Allied Council in Japan. Mr Chamber made a tour of Australian, British and American camps and bases including the BCON press, temporary houses built for dependants of Australian personnel of BCOF. He is seen talking to the troops and eating Christmas dinner in the Other Ranks (O/Rs) mess.
