Dr J.A. Forbes visits Australians in Vietnam. DPR/TV/267-268

The Minister for the Army Dr J A Forbes, arrived at Tan Son Nhut airport, Saigon, for a three day visit to Australian soldiers. Apart from visiting 1RAR and Australian Logistic Support Company at Bien Hoa the minister travelled to outlying stations to talk with members of the Australian Army Training Team who are serving with Vietnamese units in the field. During his stay he had discussions with Vietnamese Government leaders and military officials. Dr Forbes was greeted by Brig-General Bui Huunhun, representative of Vietnamese High Command, the Prime Ministers Protocol Officer, Mr Khiet and a representative from Vietnamese Foreign Affairs Department. Also present were Mr J. Fernandez, Australian charge D'affaires, Commander A A F V Colonel O D Jackson and services Attache Colonel J Maxwell. After his visit to Australian Forces, Vietnam Dr Forbes accompanied by the Secretary Department of the Army Mr Bruce White left Tan Son Nhut airport by RAAF Dakota for Malaysia the next stage of his tour.
