Description

Gallipoli Peninsula, Turkey. 25 April 1915. Ari Burnu, looking down on the beach from Plugge's Plateau, showing a trench on the summit of Ari Burnu Knoll rushed by the 3rd Australian Brigade immediately on landing at Anzac Cove. The men had rushed across the beach, formed up under the edge of the scrub, and charged up through the scrub to this trench. This photograph was taken about mid-day, when the 2nd Battalion, which had been sent up to the left flank to Walker's Ridge, was brought back along the beach and put on to Plugge's Plateau.
