Description
Gallipoli Peninsula, Turkey. 6 May 1915. The 2nd Australian Infantry Brigade disembarking from a fleetsweeper beside the River Clyde landing at the pier, Cape Helles. One of the fleetsweepers which brought the brigade from Anzac can be seen close alongside the River Clyde. In the distance on the left, a warship at the mouth of the straits; on the right, a large French transport, anchored warships and smaller craft. The painting of the River Clyde with yellow had been only partly finished before 25 April 1915.
