Description
Gallipoli Peninsula, Turkey. c. 1 August 1915. Anzac Cove is here depicted as it was in July and August 1915. At this time the Australians and New Zealanders (Anzacs) were well established at their base, but although the Turks had been pushed well back into the interior the spot was never absolutely free from shells which came from the Turkish guns hidden in the distant hills.
