Description
Gallipoli Peninsula, Turkey. August 1915. North Beach became a useful adjunct to Anzac Cove, as a landing place for various requirements. Before that time full use could not be made of it on account of enemy snipers who operated from the hills on the left. The battle which was fought in August cleared these danger points, and thenceforward the beach was freely used. Up to that time Anzac Cove was the sole harbour.
