Description
Gallipoli Peninsula, Turkey. July 1915. Second image in a panorama of the whole field of the Gallipoli campaign comprising five images. The section shown here embraces Kiretch Tepe, Teke Tepe and Anafarta. Up to this time the whole plain northwards of Sari Bair was occupied only by the Broussa Gendarmerie. The plan in August was to hold the enemy where he was, deliver a blow at Helles, another on the right of Anzac, and by moving out on the left of Anzac and by landing at Suvla to make the real attack on Sari Bair and occupy it. This image has been digitally combined to form a composite panorama which is held at G01094P. This panorama image is only available as a digital print.
