Description
Gallipoli Peninsula, Turkey. 25 July 1915. This photograph depicts one of the many difficulties with which our troops were confronted on Gallipoli. Before bringing in troops for the big battle of August, it was necessary to provide stores of water. The great platform levelled for tanks above Anzac Cove may be seen here, and troops are dragging tanks up the hill to get them into position. The photograph was taken in Anzac Gully, at the foot of which was Army Corps Headquarters.
