Gallipoli Peninsula, Turkey. 1915. A Turkish trench which seriously blocked the advance of the Mounted Rifles in the next gully, Chailak Dere, on the night of 6/7 August 1915. The barbed wire in the front of it was finally cleared away by New Zealand Engineers and Maori at about 11 p.m.
