THE FIRST FOUR MEMBERS OF THE ROYAL AUSTRALIAN ARMY NURSING CORPS TO SERVE ON OPERATIONAL DUTY IN VIETNAM MADE THEIR INITIAL VISIT TO THE VILLAGE OF HOA LONG, NEAR THE AUSTRALIAN TASK FORCE BASE AT NUI DAT. LEFT TO RIGHT: LIEUTENANT MARGARET AHERN OF LEETON, NSW, LIEUTENANT COLLEEN MEALY OF PORT AUGUSTA, SA, CAPTAIN AMY PITTENDRIEGH OF MANJIMUP, WA, AND LIEUTENANT TERRIE ROCHE OF GOULBURN, NSW. THEY ARE TRYING OUT A BOUNCINETTE ROCKER WITH A VIETNAMESE BOY AND ARE WATCHED BY THE BABY'S MOTHER ON THE EXTREME LEFT OF THE PICTURE. THE FOUR ARMY NURSES ARRIVED IN VIETNAM FOR A 12 MONTH TOUR OF DUTY WITH THE 8TH FIELD AMBULANCE AT VUNG TAU.
