Studio portrait of 4246 Private Laurence Victor Chamberlain, 22nd Battalion from Malvern, Victoria. A 20 year old driver prior to enlistment on 9 September 1915, he embarked for overseas with the 10th Reinforcements from Melbourne on 7 March 1916 aboard HMAT Wiltshire. He was killed in action on the Somme of 2 January 1917 and is buried in the Guards' Cemetery, Lesboeuf, France.
