Studio portrait of 5594 Private (Pte) William Dalzelle McFarland, 11th Reinforcements, 2nd Field Artillery Brigade, of St Kilda, Vic. Pte McFarland enlisted on 9 July 1915 and embarked from Melbourne aboard HMAT Nestor on 11 October 1915. He was promoted to driver with the 5th Battery, Australian Field Artillery. He was killed in action on 26 June 1916 at Fleurbaix, France aged 23 years.
