Studio portrait of 93 Private (Pte) William Horace Davis, 39th Battalion, of St Kilda, Vic. A plasterer prior to enlistment, Pte Davis embarked with A Company from Melbourne on HMAT Ascanius on 27th May 1916. After promotion to Lance Corporal (L Cpl) he was killed in action in Belgium on 4th October 1917 and is commemorated on the Menin Gate Memorial.
