Studio portrait of 3046 Private Walter Treble Congram, 47th Battalion from Brisbane, Queensland. A 20 year old clerk prior to enlisting on 21 September 1915, he embarked for overseas with the 7th Reinforcements of the 25th Battalion from Brisbane on 30 December 1915 aboard HMAT Itonus. After being promoted to Lance Corporal on 9 March 1916, he was killed in action on 4 August 1916 at Pozieres, France and is commemorated on the Villers Bretonneux Memorial, France.
