Studio portrait of Lieutenant (Lt) Reginald William Foster, 15th Battalion from Rockhampton, Queensland. A 28 year old school teacher prior to being appointed a Second Lieutenant (2nd Lt) on 23 April 1915, he embarked for overseas service with the 6th Reinforcements from Brisbane, Queensland aboard HMAT Karoola (A63) on 12 June 1915. Lt Foster joined the 15th Battalion at Gallipoli on 2 August and was killed in action on 8 August 1915. He is commemorated on the Lone Pine Memorial, Gallipoli, Turkey with others who have no known grave.
