Portrait of 916 Trooper (Tpr) Bertie Gerald Barrett, of Frances, South Australia, who enlisted in Brisbane, Queensland with the 11th Light Horse on 10 March 1915. He embarked on HMAT Kyarra on 16 August 1915 for the Dardanelles. He transferred to the 2nd Light Horse on 14 November 1915 before rejoining the 11th Light Horse in Egypt on 22 February 1916. Pte Barrett was killed in action on the Sinai Peninsula on 7 August 1916 aged 36 years.
