Studio portrait of 628 Private (Pte) Leslie Haliburton Fynmore, 21st Battalion. A grocer from Moonee Ponds, Vic prior to enlistment, Pte Fynmore embarked with C Company from Melbourne on HMAT Ulysses on 10 May 1915. On 23 August 1916 he was killed in action at Mouquet Farm, France, aged 20, and is commemorated on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial. His older brother 2639 Sergeant Harry Fynmore, 7th Battalion, was later killed in action, also in France.
