Description

Studio portrait of 2105 Private (Pte) Ernest Wood Brady, 28th Battalion, of Parkville, WA. A fireman prior to enlistment, Pte Brady and one of five brothers who enlisted, Pte Brady embarked with the 4th Reinforcements from Fremantle on HMAT Hororata on 1st October 1915. Promoted to Lance Corporal (L Cpl), Brady later died of wounds received in action on 5th March 1917 and was buried in the Dernancourt Communal Cemetery Extension, France. His brother 709 Trooper (Tpr) Edgar Vernon Brady, 10th Light Horse Regiment was killed in action at Gallipoli.
