Description
Studio portrait of 1330 Gunner (Gnr) William Cam, 6th Australian Field Artillery (AFA) Brigade of Lang Lang, Victoria. A farm labourer prior to enlistment on 2 August 1915, he embarked from Melbourne aboard HMAT Ceramic with the 13th Australian Light Horse Regiment on 23 November 1915. Transferring to the 2nd Division Ammunition Column (DAC) in March 1916, Gnr Cam was killed in action near Menin Road on 25 September 1917 aged 20 years. He has no known grave, and is commemorated on the Menin Gate at Ypres (Ieper).
