Description
Captain J W Callander of 67 Battalion (left) shaking hands and being congratulated by Lieutenant-Colonel (Lt Col) F S Walsh (right) after the presentation of a trophy. Captain Callander was probably officer-in-charge of the winning company of a battalion competition. Note the BCOF shoulder patch on the Captain's right shoulder and the 67 in Roman numerals (LXVII) worn as a shoulder flash by both. 67 Battalion had been renamed 3 Battalion The Royal Australian Regiment (3RAR) a year earlier but continued to wear the LXVII for some time. In the background (centre), smoking a cigarette, is Major A F P Lukyn of 3RAR.
