Description
On a small beach, an unidentified Australian Non Commissioned Officer (NCO), and a Japanese civilian discuss the safety procedures and dangers of destroying a mine found washed up on the beach. The civilian is probably an ex-servicman with specialist knowledge. Note the fuse wire been attached to the top and what appears to be a small hole drilled in the mine to the left of the fuse. A Japanese assistant, wearing white gloves, is walking towards them on the beach. The staff sergeant is probably from an Australian Bomb Disposal unit of the British Commonwealth Occupation Force (BCOF), who were responsible for safely destroying recovered mines and bombs from the Second World War.
