Description

General Douglas MacArthur, Commander-in-Chief of the United Nations Command, walks with Lieutenant General Walton Harris “Bulldog” Walker, commanding general of the US Eighth Army at Taegu on the 24 November 1950 (Thanksgiving Day). Walker's headquarters were located at Taegu. MacArthur had been flown to Korea from Japan to meet with Walker to urge him to push all of his strength forward against the Chinese. The renewed US/ ROK-A offensive had begun again that day, but Walker did not put all of his strength into the attack. His intelligence reports from the frontline contradicted Macarthur’s intelligence, so he advanced with caution. Even so, when the Chinese launched their own offensive the following day, the Eighth Army were put into retreat.
