Description
Three soldiers from the 3rd Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (3RAR), sit on a pile of hay and lean back on their packs after an exhausting walk, carrying heavy loads, through a snow filled valley. The soldier on the left wearing glasses, is possibly 31998 Sergeant Noel 'Doc' Tampling, a medical Non Commissioned Officer with 3RAR. The other two soldiers are unidentified. Note the snow lying in the furrows of the fields.
