Description

An unidentified soldier from the 3rd Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (3RAR), stands beside a large metal pot or cauldron, and admires a traditional Korean building which is possibly part of a temple. The roof of the structure has bamboo edging and a row of small sculptures (some animal) along the end of the roof (right). Large external timber columns support the building, which has an outdoor corridor or verandah. Along the verandah are a row of identical wooden tables. Steps from the lower courtyard area lead up to two-level stone platform in front of the structure. Weeds are growing through all the gaps between the stones, indicating that the building has been abandoned.
