Informal portrait of Second Lieutenant (2nd Lt) Harold Arthur Barker, Machine Gun Section, 7th Battalion and 1663 Quartermaster-Sergeant (QMS) Herbert Barker, 3rd Reinforcements, 8th Battalion, in front of a dugout which overlooked the spot where General Bridges was shot, and just below Colonel Brand's 8th Battalion Headquarters. 2nd Lt Barker enlisted on 17 August 1914 as a private (service number 43) and embarked from Melbourne aboard HMAT Hororata on 19 October 1914. QMS Barker enlisted on 19 November 1914 and embarked from Melbourne aboard HMAT Runic on 19 February 1915.
