Australia's latest Victoria Cross (VC) winner, Warrant Officer 2nd Class (WO2) Keith Payne of Stafford Heights, Qld, an Adviser with the Australian Army Training Team in Vietnam (AATTV), sitting behind the Ambassador's desk at the Australian Embassy, takes a telephone call from his wife in Brisbane. The call was arranged by the Brisbane Telegraph newspaper and enabled WO2 Payne to hear of the congratulatory messages which have flooded into his home. WO2 Payne was awarded the VC for gallantry during an action in Kontum Province.
