Abstract

In this article the author gives a brief biography for Oswald Mosley Croshaw who as a British officer was given command of the 53rd Battalion AIF. He describes Crashaw's experiences in the Boer War and the period leading up to the First World War. The author goes onto describe the rough start that Croshaw had when taking over command of the 53rd Battalion in late October 1916 up till his death in September 1917. The author concludes that by the time of his death, Croshaw had become well respected by the men of the 53rd Battalion and highly written about by Charles Bean and acknowledged the debt owed to him.
