Includes Bibliographical references (pages 26-27) Henry Gordon (Harry) Collins, the fifth child of Frederick and Catherine Collins, was born at Delamere, South Australia in 1892. He had six siblings, Frederick William (Will) who died from accidental bomb wounds in France in 1916, Alice Beatrice, Rosalie Kate, Edith Maria, Elizabeth May and Myra Dorothy. Harry was 22 years old when he enlisted for World War 1 service on 22nd August 1914, initially joining B Squadron of the 3rd Light Horse Regiment of the Australian Imperial Force. He embarked from Aust ralia in October 1914 and proceeded to join the A.E.F. in Gallipoli in May 1915. By March 1916 he was stationed in Egypt, and in July 1917 was attached to the Imperial Camel Corps. This letter to his younger sister May describes his experiences during t he Palestine Campaign between September and December 1917. Harry embarked at Suez for Australia on 15 November 1918. General.
