Description
Vung Tau, South Vietnam. 1968. Westerly view from the rear of the Peter Badcoe Club looking towards the Beach Annex accommodation barracks for visiting units. In the mid-ground, a soldier is walking towards the Club. The Club was an Army rest and recreation centre located at the 1st Australian Logistic Support Group (1ALSG) base at Back Beach, and named for Major Peter Badcoe who was posthumously awarded the Victoria Cross (VC) for several courageous actions in Vietnam. The recreational facilities included the Harold Holt Memorial Swimming Pool (under construction in middle of photo) and a beach.
