Vung Tau, South Vietnam. 1969-08. The Deputy Master General of the Ordnance, Brigadier J. W. Lawson, presents a trophy to Major John Gillespie of Brisbane, Qld, the Officer Commanding the 5th Company, Royal Australian Army Service Corps (RAASC). The trophy had been given to the unit by the International Harvester Company (IHC) for competition among the drivers. The drivers using mainly IHC five ton trucks, carry supplies from the 1st Australian Logistic Support Group (1ALSG) at Vung Tau to the 1st Australian Task Force (1ATF) at Nui Dat, twenty miles away, in a series of daily road convoys. IHC decided to give the trophy to the unit after a visit by one of the firm's representatives, Mr Ron Wright.
