Chauvel, Sir Henry George (Harry) (General, b.1865 - d.1945)
Description
Annotated typescript autobiography of the military career of General Sir "Harry" Chauvel. Account briefly relates his early service in the Clarence River district, movement to the Queensland Permanent Staff, service in South Africa 1899-1900 and 1902, posting to the Australian Permanent Forces and later the War Office, and his active service on Gallipoli and later Palestine. The latter part relates to the activities of the Desert Mounted Column, particularly at Romani, Gaza, Beersheba, Es Salt, Nazareth, Damascus and Aleppo.
