Ingle, Charles Hensley (Lance-Corporal, b: 1885, d: 1965)
Description
Typescript copy of article titled `Local Prisoner of War : Lance-Cpl C. H. Ingle's experiences', published in the Rosedale Courier. Written during the 2nd World War, the author describes his experiences as a POW of the Germans during the 1st World War. Describes capture near the Hindenberg Line, treatment by Germans, lack of food, purchasing forbidden newspapers, and freedom after the signing of the armistice. Finishes by expressing sympathy for POWs of Germany in the 2nd World War, and encouraging support for the Red Cross. Also short manuscript titled `Charles Hensley Ingle - soldier - W.W.1.' compiled by Ingle's son.
