The RAN guided missile destroyer HMAS Perth (II) D38 is engaged in Operation Sea Dragon with the US Seventh Fleet, just north of the Demilitarised Zone (DMZ) of Vietnam. The operations are aimed at destroying waterborne logistic craft taking supplies from North Vietnam into the south. Here R63321 Able Seaman Quartermaster Gunner (ABQMG) John Brian Rose, of Picnic Point, NSW, operates a target designating transmitter on board HMAS Perth in the Gulf of Tonkin, off the coast of North Vietnam.
