Description

RAN Helicopter Flight Vietnam (RANHFV) is attached to the US Army 135th Assault Helicopter Company, at the Bearcat Base in Bien Hoa Province, South Vietnam. During a visit to Australians serving in Vietnam, Senator Peter Rae of Tasmania meets some of the RANHFV pilots who are flying on missions in southern Vietnam. Here Senator Rae shakes hands with Lieutenant (Lt) Warrick Ellis Symons, of Sans Souci, NSW. Left to right at rear: Sub Lieutenant (Sub Lt) Thomas Francis Supple, of Wayville, SA; Lt Jerome Michael Hart, of Manjimup, WA; and Sub Lt Robert John Kyle, of Southport, Qld. Behind the men is the combined unit's emblem and motto, which includes the words USA, RAN and EMU. Due to its integrated nature, the unit was designated an `experimental military unit', hence the nickname EMU. The motto is "Get the bloody job done".
