LEFT TO RIGHT: VFX61126 SISTER KATHLEEN KINSELLA, MATRON OF 2/4TH CCS; WFX3438 SISTER PEGGY FARMANER; WX11015 MAJOR ADRIAN WARD FARMER, MO, COMMANDING OFFICER OF 2/4TH CCS; WX3439 SISTER BESSIE WILMOTT; SFX10595 SISTER (LATER CAPTAIN) ELLEN MAVIS HANNAH (LATER ALLGROVE); SFX10596 SISTER ELAINE BALFOUR-OGILVY. ALL WERE TAKEN PRISONER-OF-WAR (POW) BY THE JAPANESE AT THE FALL OF SINGAPORE IN 1942-02. WITH THE EXCEPTION OF SISTER HANNAH, ALL OF THE NURSES DIED IN CAPTIVITY.
