Berlin. 1948. Brigadier Frederick Gallagher (Blackjack) Galleghan (right) talking through an interpreter, Captain Agafonov to Major-General A.G. Kotikov, Commander, Russian forces (middle). Galleghan was positioned as head of the Australian Military Mission in Berlin and during this time he held the temporary rank of major-general. This photograph was taken during the Berlin blockade when the RAF, American Air Force and the RAAF airlifted supplies into the city.
