DescriptionAt sea, South China Sea. 1942-02-14. A life boat, crowded with technicians, after their ship was sunk off the coast of Sumatra and Malaysia. Thirty two technicians were ordered out of Singapore before its fall to Japanese forces, and embarked on a Chinese gun boat, Shu Kwong, on 13 February 1942. On 14 February 1942 the Japanese bombed and sank the ship. About twelve of the technicians survived, and arrived in Fremantle on 10 March 1942. One of the survivors was VX50834 Alfred Selwyn Holloway. (Donor A. Holloway)
