Description

Coffs Harbour, NSW. 1943-07-16. Wreckage of an Avro Anson aircraft (no. W2638) of `C' Flight, No. 73 Squadron RAAF, at the water's edge on a beach near Nabiac airfield, south of Coffs Harbour. The aircraft had swung into shallow water after touchdown and was covered by the tide. It was piloted by Flying Officer James Mourilyan Swan and force landed due to fuel exhaustion after being airborne for six hours twenty minutes.
