Caricature sketch of Sergeant L. Nathan, 9th London, titled 'The "Chef"' by Australian Prisoner of War (POW) 70 Private (Pte) Eric Stanley Wright, 30th Battalion, from Newcastle NSW. Pte Wright enlisted at the age of 23 on 1 May 1915 and embarked for overseas on 9 November 1915 aboard HMAT Beltana. He was wounded and taken prisoner at Fleurbaix, France on 19 July 1916. He was interned in various German POW camps until he was repatriated to England on 3 January 1919. Pte Wright arrived back in Australia on 1 June 1919. One of a series of over 400 photographs sent by Australian POWs in German camps to Miss M. E. Chomley, Secretary, Prisoners Department, Australian-British Red Cross Society, London. Original album housed in AWM Research Centre at RC00864, Album image number 124.
