Description

Aerial view of the bomb damaged German city of Koeln (Cologne), showing the cathedral and the destroyed rail and road bridge over the Rhine River. This image was taken from a Lancaster bomber, flying at low altitude piloted by 430033 Flight Lieutenant Alexander Elliott (Alex) Jenkins, RAAF, who was flying a group of senior British RAF Officers on an inspection tour of bomb damaged areas of Germany just after the end of the European conflict.
