Description

Studio portrait of 3793 Private (Pte) John Cullinane, 25th Battalion, of Cloncurry Qld. A miner prior to enlisting in September 1915, Pte Cullinane embarked from Brisbane with the 9th to 12th Reinforcements on board HMAT Wandilla (A62) on 31 January 1916. He trained with the 7th Training Battalion in Egypt from April and arrived for service on the Western Front in July 1916. Pte Cullinane was killed in action on the Somme, France, on 14 November 1916. He was 26 years of age.
