Description

Studio portrait of 2712 Private (Pte) Edward Rawes, 51st Battalion. A confectioner of Leederville, WA, prior to enlistment, Pte Rawes embarked with the 6th Reinforcements aboard HMAT Suffolk (A23) on 10 October 1916. Pte Rawes died on 26 September 1917, aged 19. The Red Cross Wounded and Missing file records an eyewitness account stating that he was killed by a shell at Passchendaele, Belgium.
