Private Ben Crooks
Description
Private Ben Crooks (2354, 20th Battalion) was born in Derby, England, and came to Australia at the age of 9 months. He was working as a farm hand when he enlisted in July 1915. Ben was killed in action during the battle of Pozieres on 2 August 1916 and is buried in the Pozieres British Cemetery Ovillers-La Boisselle, France. Ben's mother wrote that his age at death was 17 and a half years.
