Lieutenant George David Duncan
Description
George David Duncan was born on 6 December 1886 at Waterloo, Victoria. He was educated at a state school to 6th class and had a First Class Certificate of Education with the Permanent Force. When he enlisted on 3 September 1917, he was married, had served 2 years with the Australian Army Service Corps and 7 years on the Instructional Staff and had passed training at Officer Training School Duntroon in 1917. He embarked in February 1918 as Lieutenant and served with the 57 Australian Infantry Battalion in France. He was wounded in action on 29 September 1918 and re-joined his unit in France in November 1918. He returned to Melbourne on 6 August 1919.
