Flying Officer Rodney Simes Hoy
Description
Flying Officer Rodney Simes Hoy enlisted in the Royal Australian Air Force on 12 September 1942 and undertook pilot training at Narromine, New South Wales, and Bundaberg, Queensland. He then transferred to England and joined No. 100 Squadron, Royal Air Force, flying in strategic bombing operations over France and Germany. In March 1945, Flying Officer Hoy was awarded a Distinguished Flying Cross for skill and fortitude in these operations. He later transferred to No. 157 Squadron, and was discharged on 30 November 1945.
