Description
Collection relating to the First World War service of 20985 Sapper Harold Douglas Grant, 3rd Division Signal Company. Collection consists of three diaries recording the sea voyage from Melbourne to Suez and Alexandria, then across Mediterranean to Taranto and by train to France, then ship to England. Discusses food, natives, training, disipline. Latter diary describes duties as a despatch rider in France with 3 Division Signals, August 1918 offensive, sniper fire, Americans, Armistice, leave in England, return voyage to Australia.
