Description

A substantial collection of letters, photographs, Service documents, and records associated with hospital treatment and death of Private (Pte) Kenworthy, relating to or created by Pte Kenworthy before, during and after the First World War. Letters, mainly to his family, are written in many series and cover: training near Bendigo before leaving Australia; leisure activities, including sightseeing in Europe and South Africa while on leave or travelling to or from the First World War; daily life during the First World War; illness during and after the First World War; return to Australia and the following years, mainly spent in hospitals and convalescent facilities before dying of tuberculosis in 1926. Postcards and photographs cover a wide range of places visited during leave; there are also some souvenir booklets. Some personal photographs and many military survey-type images. Death records include a site record for Rookwood, and notes from hospital staff to the Kenworthy family.
