Diary written by Corporal John Spence Finney during active service with the 44 Battalion in France, chiefly January-August 1918. Entries provide detailed accounts of Finney's experience during the August offensive, recording conditions of trench life, artillery bombardments, patrols, souvenir hunting and a description of an address given by Prime Minister William Hughes.
