Description
A collection of letters written by 3962 Private (Pte) Thomas, 2 Pioneer Battalion, to his sister, Alice Thomas, who lived in North Wales. Pte Thomas emigrated to Australia pre-World War One. The letter discuss how war affects everyone' life, the shelling of airplanes, how the allied pilots are more daring than the German pilots, the need for soldiers to have constant contact with home, the price and shortage of food in the United Kingdom, being inspected by the King, and being a machine gunner and using the Lewis machine gun.
